Infertility is much more common
than once believed. In fact, approximately 15% of
couples experience infertility at some time in their
reproductive lives.
The good news is that most couples,
who are under the care of a fertility specialist,
will become pregnant. Pregnancy is usually achieved
without ART therapies, such as in
vitro fertilization, IVF. Intrauterine
insemination, IUI, is the solution for many
couples.
Our Web site discusses in detail, the causes of, and treatments
for, infertility. The common causes of infertility include
ovulatory
dysfunction, reduced
ovarian reserve, fallopian
tube damage or blockage, endometriosis,
cervical
mucus abnormalities, uterine disease, PCOS,
male factor infertility, and others. Oftentimes there
is more than once cause for a couple's infertility.
We also discuss new and exciting procedures, such as PGD for screening genetic diseases.
Infertility specialists undergo extensive advanced medical training which enables them to accurately diagnosis the many conditions that can lead to infertility.
Dr.
Chantilis and Dr. Lee have completed advanced subspecialty fellowship training in Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Chantilis is
Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Lee is Board Certified in
Obstetrics
and Gynecology and Board eligible for Reproductive Endocrinology
and Infertility.
Our Texas fertility clinics are conveniently located in Dallas near major highways. See our "Location" page.

IVF
has helped thousands of otherwise infertile couples
have genetically related children. When IVF was introduced
it was considered an experimental procedure by the
American Medical Association. IVF is now recognized
as safe and effective and is recommended as a "first
line treatment" for many "infertility
causing" conditions.
In the IVF procedure, the eggs are
retrieved from the ovaries and combined with sperm
in the laboratory
(see detailed
description of IVF).
Therefore, conditions such
as tubal
disease, which can block the eggs passage from
the ovary to the site of fertilization, are often
treated successfully with IVF.
Likewise, when adequate
quality sperm are not available (male
infertility), pregnancy can often be
initiated by injecting sperm directly into eggs
in the IVF/ICSI procedure.
Women suffering from ovarian failure may be candidates for our donor egg program.
However, the majority of patients
will become pregnant using other techniques such
as medications and IUI.
